Welcome to my writing journal! [Dec. 1st, 2009|06:41 pm]
Hello there and welcome :D If you're reading this, chances are I've linked to this journal somewhere or other for you, kind person, to read my novel.

Chances are also very high that you might be looking at this blog and wondering exactly where my novel is. Don't let this weird layout turn you away, my friend. I'm here to help you out :) All of these blog posts are dated most recent first, going further into the past as you go down the page. To make things easier, all you need to do is click here for the first segment of my novel.

There are two ways to read from here. You can either click each "Livejournal Cut" (the bold link in each entry) on the main page in reverse order, following the order of the days in the title. "NaNoWriMo Day 2", "Day 6", etc.

The other way would be to stay on the novel segment page and click the little green forward arrow above the title to get to the next entry.

Thank you for checking this out, and hope you enjoy!

NaNoWriMo Day 28 - FINISHED [Nov. 28th, 2009|10:48 pm]

@_______@ HOLY SNAP. IT'S DONE. IT'S SO FREAKING DONE. TAKE THAT, NANO! **absolutely DIES**

The morning after... oh, wait... it's still the same morning. )

NaNoWriMo Day 25 [Nov. 25th, 2009|10:03 pm]
45,679/50,000 - Just about 4k words away from the goal, and I still have three major scenes to go. @____@ My finish line is still probably 8k away in actuality.

Name symbolism makes itself painfully apparent )

NaNoWriMo Day 24 [Nov. 24th, 2009|06:19 pm]
42,124/50,000 - Yes, I added like three words to make it a palindrome, too. <3

So, my dear main character. You came dangerously close to pissing on the plot. Thank goodness we have an Ethan King to stop you from doing so.

When the little man gets you angry, you take it up with the big man. )

NaNoWriMo Day 23 - Part 2 [Nov. 23rd, 2009|09:38 pm]
40,000/50,000 - Yes, I totally added three words to get this to that nice even number.

Preaching to the ignorant )

NaNoWriMo Day 23 - Part 1 [Nov. 23rd, 2009|06:29 pm]
37,651/50,000 - As the title suggests, this won't be the only update today. I've still got quite a bit of writing to do in the next few hours, but this segment had a nice conclusion that makes for its own entry quite nicely.

I have been offered a new job... of sorts. )

NaNoWriMo Day 19, I think [Nov. 19th, 2009|11:30 pm]
EDIT: 35,238/50,000 - o.o; oh snap.

I'm looking at how many words I have left, and I'm a little concerned for how I'm gonna stretch this out. >>; I mean, I don't think it'll be too much of a problem, since this scene is nowhere near finished, and I have three more major ones to go. So averaging 4-5k words per major scene shouldn't be difficult, but... at the same time, I can't imagine her actually sitting down and talking to Robert for that long, nor do I expect her absolutely pwning King to take that long either. Maybe she'll get to apologize to Logan, and I need to think of a way to get Adam back. Hopefully I can stall long enough to have everything happen and still break 50,000.

Also, I'm sorry for the abrupt ending, but Kitty needs some love and attention, as I've abandoned him all day for this stupid thing which I want to end like RIGHT NOW.

And the drama train rolls on in. Or, WELCOME TO ITALICS CITY )

NaNoWriMo Day AWESOME [Nov. 19th, 2009|12:18 am]
32,323/50,000 - I WAS ONLY 34 WORDS AWAY FROM BREAKING 5K IN A DAY @_____@ WAAAAGH.

I have five or six more major scenes to cram into 18k words. I don't know how well the cramming will go, considering a scene that was only supposed to be 1,000 turned into like 4,000 - and what was supposed to be a simple good deed turned into nearly 2,000 words of kindness. Whatever ends up happening, it can only benefit my word count.

Also, a massive shoutout to the lovely ladies at the Naperville NaNoWriMo write-in at Caribou Coffee! Sera, Ducky, Heather, Katherine, Crystal, and Jennifer, and one more person whose name I can't remember - thank you for making tonight not only hella productive with word wars and whatnot, but for making it FUN. :D Thank you for reminding me what NaNoWriMo is about, and hope to see you all next week!

Hell no! There is no way I am going NEAR that car! It might explode or some shit like that! )

NaNoWriMo Day -I don't even know- [Nov. 16th, 2009|11:59 pm]
27,356/50,000 ~ After literally threatening myself to delete my novel for being so damned pointless and lacking any kind of cohesive plot, not to mention absolutely failing to reach my personal writing goals, I sat myself down and wrote out an outline for at least the next 5-10k words. Hopefully by that point I'll have an ending in sight. I don't even care if I hit 50,000 anymore, I just want to finish this story and see wtf will happen, if anything will happen.

Also, I might change my mind later, but upon rereading, this entire scene feels really... forced. Not like I'm making something happen where it's not supposed to happen, but the way that I jumped certain bits makes it feel very... artificial. Not organic, and certainly not flowing. Like it goes from point A to point B to point F to point N and someone might wonder how the hell THAT happened.

Synopsis for this part: Jane goes back to work. Jane is a bitch. Jane is more of a bitch. Jane is kind of nice for a minute. Jane becomes an even bigger bitch than before. Hilarity ensues.

You look like hell. )

NaNoWriMo Day 12 [Nov. 12th, 2009|10:15 pm]
22,769/50,000 - I am very happy with how this went today. I mean, I feel motivated to just get that last 1.2k out of the way and get up to that goal I keep putting on myself yet never actually... reach. XD But at the same time, this ending just feels so... perfect, that I don't really want to do anything to it.

Looking back at it though, it's actually a very depressing read. A few posts ago, I wrote about the three types of people in the world - she is definitely the first type. The worst part is, she was originally introduced to the cast to be a neutral, maybe even happy person. =/

Also included is a really big metaphor about how killing people is like conducting an orchestra! 8D

You must forgive me for talking your ear off... )

NaNoWriMo Day 11 [Nov. 11th, 2009|10:53 pm]
20,464/50,000 - I'M ALMOST HALFWAY THERE 8D

Another uber long post, and I'm still trying to catch up. I'm gonna try to get better about this "post every day" thing instead of every other day, so I have easily-digestible chunks instead of LONG WALLS OF WTF TEXT.

This post is kind of exposition heavy, and LOADED WITH SPOILERS, so if you haven't read up to this point, I suggest you not read this, as it'll completely ruin the first 15,000 words of the novel. I also realize I'm probably talking to only one person, so **SALUTE! @ [info]rebbe** :D

You must be careful where you throw that name around, and who you address with that name. )

NaNoWriMo Day 9 [Nov. 9th, 2009|10:30 am]
15,214/50,000 - This is a combination of a couple days/several sessions of work. I plan to write more by the time I get home from work, and my goal is to bring my word count up to 18,000 by midnight tonight so I can return to my regularly scheduled 2k words a day.

I must mention, my friend Bryan went into this relatively cold, not knowing anything about the plot. It took him to my last post to figure out what's going on, and once he knew it, suddenly everything else started making sense. That made me VERY HAPPY :D That means people who don't know anything about what's going on will have their big reveal be today.

So let us allow the confessions to pour out, shall we?

Sounds rough... didn't think you'd be the one settling down to a normal life. )

NaNoWriMo Day 6 [Nov. 7th, 2009|01:12 am]
11,437/50,000 - A bit short for today, but a lot of other things consumed my day, like Shining Force II, and hunting for some Hare Hare Yukai. Oh, and work. Tonight was the first night shift I'd worked in literally two months. It completely wore me out. XD So anyway, I managed to get all this out before succumbing to sleep.

I swear to God, Irvine was NOT supposed to hang around this long! So again, I put up a language warning, though this isn't nearly as profane as yesterday's entry.

Also, PLOT PROGRESSES. The "Confession" part of my title is actually coming into play!

Trust me, you would much rather see these mummy wraps than what's underneath. )

NaNoWriMo Day 5 [Nov. 5th, 2009|08:43 pm]
10,015/50,000 - I'm caught up again! Here's hoping it stays that way :D I must warn though, this particular post (and part of tomorrow's) will contain A LOT OF SWEARING. A. LOT. There just was no way around it with this particular character.

Ah well, it should be perfectly fine here. ^^ Apologies for kind of an abrupt ending; it's a nice place for me to continue tomorrow.

And the mid afternoon rush faded as it always did to a crawl by three o'clock )

NaNoWriMo Day 4 [Nov. 4th, 2009|09:04 pm]
7,923/50,000 and counting - I'll be adding more later when my gangster cockney translator comes home from work. 8D

Well I am certainly not above idle gossip around your workplace... )

NaNoWriMo Day 3 [Nov. 4th, 2009|12:46 am]
I know it's technically day 4 according to my clock, but I did about half my writing for today at my uncle's funeral, and managed to scramble the other half out in the past forty five minutes since getting home. So apologies if it's not quite up to par with the other stuff I wrote. It was hard enough writing with that atmosphere, even more difficult when my story takes place mostly at Jane's work, and she's... well, not at work. I had to get her back there ASAP, and it took its sweet time.

Anyway, I'm at 5,642/50,000 now. Not quite 6,000 as I would have liked, but still better than the recommended goal.

The rest of the evening passed without incident, and Jane woke the next morning to the sound of pattering rain against her dusty window. )

NaNoWriMo 2009: "Confessions of a Combat Waitress" [Nov. 2nd, 2009|07:21 pm]
I was supposed to post this yesterday, but I didn't get the chance between writing and Shining Force II and paying attention to my Kitty. Anyway, here's the first two parts of my novel, bringing my day two word count to 4,047/50,000.

It has been fifteen years since the government enacted the Powered Citizen Ban in Sega City. )

More math class + Navi = more weird as hell poetry [Sep. 1st, 2009|10:14 pm]
What happens when Tricia understands everything that's going on with sets and whatnot in a class she basically already took? She owns the class AND writes crazy Navi-inspired poetry some more! :D This one's a lot less subtle than the previous one and should not be read by the faint of heart (or maybe with a blood alcohol content of less than .05 :p )

Bored in math class [Aug. 25th, 2009|11:22 pm]
I realized I haven't written anything for over a year, and today was the first day of the math class I already took - which means I knew pretty much everything my professor was talking about. I was so far ahead of the rest of the class, I was throwing out answers three steps ahead of what my professor was talking about, while I was writing this strange pseudo-poem in Navi's perspective.

I am not afraid. )

Challenge #52 - Lust [May. 13th, 2008|04:20 pm]
Title: (untitled)
Word Count: 876
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Navi
Warnings: Really suggestive themes and a creepy air above it all
Notes: Considering the topic, I'm really tempted to bump the rating, but it never goes into detail beyond recalling things that happened before. Child-Navi is visiting her adult body in the hospital and looking at scars and remembering ones that didn't leave a mark on the outside.

It should have been something out of a cheap horror film, but the cold glare of the fluorescent lights and the somber expression on the nurse’s face told Navi that this wasn’t a work of fiction. )
